Distribution:North American and eastern Siberia.
Habits: Inhabits in lake-swamp plain, grassy tidal flats and mudflats. They are also found in various upland habitats. They are mainly herbivorous and eat cultivated foods such as corn, wheat, sorghum and some insects. Lays eggs between May to July. The clutch size is 1 to 2. The Sandhill crane is the second-class national protected animal.
